Shikshan Prasarak Mandal facilited secondary education in Peth Vadgaon in the year 1945 after which former MLA of Kolhapur Kai. Diliprao Desai had a dream of starting a perfect independent college for girls at Peth Vadgaon and started working towards it. Unfortunately, his dream did not come true during his lifetime but the institution made his dream come true by establishing Smt. Sushiladevi Malharrao Desai Girls College established in the year 2002. The college campus is very safe. It is at a distance of 500 feet from the S. T. stand. The parents of the girls also admitted their daughters in this girl's college with great faith and within a short period of time the college has progressed towards progress. The college is affiliated to Smt. Nathibai Damodar Thakarsi Mahila Vidyapeeth Mumbai (S.N.D.T.) being the only girls' college in Kolhapur district (S.N.D.T.).
